So interesting happening today. I have been thinking about buying a dash cam. I was comparing different makes etc., when I came across this "Vital Dash Cam" showing up on a few sites as #1 rated etc. After comparing this one at $59 to some more expensive ones, I decided to give it a try. I ordered 2, one for me and one for my wife. The web site bragged about product shipping from U.S. because customers shouldn't have to wait for weeks to get something shipped from overseas.

I clicked all the buttons, etc. then tried to pay with Pay Pal. I get a funny screen with a bunch of code and indicating transaction was canceled. So then I tried to pay with a different credit card and it was declined. So I called the credit card company to see why it was declined. Turns out that the charge was coming from a company called Life Style Shop, not from Vital Dash Cam. (Web site is "trustlifestyleshop.com" ) I called the toll free number on their web site and asked what was Life Style Shop. The guy, who said his name was Oscar but who did not sound like an Oscar, said they sell dozens of various products...... from CHINA. So much for the "American company crap."

Further research showed that this site has terrible reviews, customer complaints, and is believed to be connected to some other ripoffs.

I thanked my cc company for declining the charge and watching out for me the consumer. I try to do some homework before buying stuff online but you can't always catch everything.
